Solidworks is a professional design package that provides 3d sketching and modeling along with assembly and animation options. It is widely considered the best 3d design software and is used in many industrial applications worldwide.
The School of Science and Engineering (SSE) maintains a limited site-license for student use of Solidworks 2014. It is available on many school-owned computers, students may request an individual copy for their personal computers under the SSE license.
The recommended method for learning Solidworks is to simply work through the Tutorials provided with the software. The program also contains an elaborate "Help" system that will answer most questions as they arise.
